Inside Job Essay: DUE: 1.18.12

Directions: Compose a minimum Six paragraph essay that reflects your thoughts and insights on the documentary inside job. Each paragraph should be written in your own words. The final paper must have at least one paragraph on each topic listed below. Do not so much define events, but rather describe your reaction to them in your own words. Cite any information necessary using APA or MLA format. The completed essay should be submitted with title page and references if applicable.

Essay Paragraph Topics:

Topic 1:
What events in the film made you angry? Which person depicted in the film offended you the most? Why?

Topic 2:
Who is the most to blame for the ongoing economic crisis? Republicans or Democrats? Government or Financial services companies? Anyone else? What could they have done differently?

Topic 3:
Do you think anyone should go to jail for the behavior depicted in the film? Who? Why?

Topic 4:
Why do you think Wall Street compensation is so high? Why do those on Wall Street make so much money? Do you think it is because they are creating so much value to society? What would you expect to happen to Wall Street bonuses in the future?

Topic 5:
Explain what is meant by “It’s a Wall Street Government”. Here you might discuss who was responsible for the housing bubble. Did the liable parties get punished? Who was ultimately punished? Use the names of at least two banks that were involved in the mortgage crisis.

Topic 6:
What are your own views and beliefs about the facts presented in Inside Job? What are your feelings about known crimes that go unpunished? Make a list of a few statements or at least two basic principles you believe to be true about markets. For example: If you don’t have the money for something you should not be able to buy it.

Paragraphs must be at least 5 sentences in length and free of spelling and grammar errors.
