SiGnS: Stencil Stenciling Stenciled

Stenciling
Create TWO stenciled signs that demonstrate your ability to work with dimension, material, and process.

RESEARCH
In a Google Doc show evidence of 10 quotes for your signage.

After your quote have been approved….

MATERIAL
Choose a piece of wood or other material.
If wood, determine where the top and bottom will be and how the material will sit when finished.
Measure the material.
With a sander, smooth the sides where the design will placed.
Paint both sides of the material.
Rough up the edges of the material with a sander.

DESIGN
Draw a sketch that illustrates the shape and dimensions of the material.
Create four thumbnail sketches that illustrate your design ideas.
With the teacher help choose the best design.
Your design should include Type and Graphics (if desired)

Create you design in Rolland Cut Studio.
Cut your design into vinyl.
Weeded the opposite of your design to create a stencil.
Carefully peal and place your design onto your material.
Tape off any areas not covered by the stencil.
Paint the stenciled material with at least two coats.
Remove the stencil.
